LDA was retained by Westlake Medical Center, the investors for the building, and a group of practitioners to design an 8,000 square feet Surgery Center on main floor of this two storied office building.
The facility accommodates one O.R. of ‘C’ classification, two procedure rooms, and a processing area. These areas are accessed through a dedicated sterile corridor for the doctors and nurses. There is provision for two additional procedure rooms for expansion so that the present two procedure rooms can be converted to a second O.R.
There are four pre-op and eight post-op holding areas, with a nurse’s station having a full view of the post-op holding area. The pre-op areas are designed so that if the work load demands to have more post-op holding areas, the pre-op areas can be converted to post-op area. The entrances are maintained on both sides of these areas. All post-op areas have high level windows with bed locators and medical gases.
The facility also accommodates the staff dressing areas, processing areas, staff lounge, and lockers. The front lobby reception waiting area and administrator offices are also included with an adjoining exam and consulting room.
There is a drop off canopy at the front for the patients with a vestibule to protect the patients from inclement weather. The facility is used as a Surgery Center only.
